Kari Lake took the stage in the afternoon of the third day of Turning Point’s AmericaFest (AmFest) 2024.

Lake talked about her experiences in both the media and elections.  As to the media, she said that she had genuine hope that the fake news has finally been eradicated.  Lake expressed optimism that the time of honest and legitimate news was nigh, as it was “time to get back to real journalism.”

Lake’s statements on journalism are a foreshadowing of her incoming role in the Trump Administration. Trump has appointed Lake to lead Voices of America (VoA).  VoA is a federally funded broadcaster.  It is heard in multiple countries across the world and translated into numerous languages.  VoA is considered to be the official voice of the American government, especially abroad.

As to the elections, Lake has ran for governor of Arizona and an open seat in the United States Senate.  Never having been officially declared the winner of either, each race ended in the midst of election integrity issues which plague Arizona elections.

Taking questions from the audience, Lake indicated that she did not have any plans to run for governor again and unequivocally stated that she is going to “DC to help the Trump administration.” When asked about the role of the federal government in election integrity in state elections, Lake provided insight into the thoughts of the Trump administration.

Lake said that she was counting on the federal government to bring accountability, transparency, “paper ballots, and something that looks a lot like Election Day voting” in federal races.  Lake, a very educated woman on elections, knows that the federal government cannot  regulate state elections.  However, state elections will mirror federal elections.

Coupling Lake’s statements with those of Harmeet Dhillon from the previous day about a civil right to election integrity, it looks like Trump has positive changes in mind for our elections.
