Conway Basketball Coach Fired For Racial Slur….Overreaction ?….Hypocrisy ?….Both ?

Let me tell a story about a coach getting burned at the stake.

During a basketball practice on October 3^rd, a head coach overhears a player tell another player “That Nigga gotta take over.”

Apparently, the use of that word by players along with other profanities was becoming an issue, so at the end of practice the coach calls the team together and tells them they gotta stop using the words “Nigga”, “Pussy” & “Bitch”.

He explains to them reasons why the use of these words is unacceptable and provides an analogy along with a pep talk….Okay….I probably would have added that if I heard those words again then whoever said them was going to vomit violently….but that’s me.

Fast forward to last Thursday night when the School Board voted 5 to 2 to terminate the coach.

Now get this…. they didn’t fire him for telling his players to stop using the words “Pussy” & “Bitch”, no no no….that part was okay.

They fired him because he literally told his players to stop using the word “Nigga”.

The coach in that story is Conway High School Basketball Coach Ben Lindsey and that is exactly what happened to him. Here is his statement to school administrators on October 7th.

Now through an FOI request I have obtained the records that formed the basis for Superintendent Jason Black to recommend Lindsey’s termination to the Board, along with the audio recording of the Board hearing Thursday night and I have been going through them.

I gotta tell ya this whole thing reeks of Overreaction and Hypocrisy worse than weed from Willie Nelson’s tour bus.

Here’s what I’m gonna do….I’m going to request a few more records from the District that are not part of the investigation into Lindsey but that do relate to the overall subject matter.

Once I have those, I will write an article detailing the overreaction and hypocrisy of this whole thing. I will provide the records along with the recording of the hearing….As always, I will provide everything for you to review.

Now when I publish that article some will agree with my take on the facts….some will disagree which is fine….and then some will immediately call me a Racist. Everybody has a right to their opinions so feel to criticize me in comments when it’s published.

However, no ghost pages….I own what I say and have no respect or tolerance for those who don’t.

I will also be reaching out to some in the Community to see if they would like to join me on a podcast to discuss the termination.

At the end of the day the reality is that Jason Black, along with Board members Trip Leach, Shelia Franklin, Leo Cummings, Leona Walton and Barrett Petty, burned Coach Lindsey at the stake for trying to get his players to stop saying the word….“Nigga”.

From the records I have reviewed I can’t help but wonder if Coach Lindsey were black, would we even be having this conversation ?
