Yep, the same guy some organizations are actually praising….but I’ll get to that head scratcher in a minute.
For now, let’s talk about how Underwood garnered the Top Cottonmouth spot.
Underwood campaigns as “A Real Conservative”
In the words of comedian Ron White…. “I don’t think so Scooter.”
On Conservatism this session he graded out at a miserable 37%.
While very low, it wasn’t the worst score. That honor went to a three-way tie between Lee Johnson, Jon Eubanks and Carol Dalby at 31% each.
However, when you factor in Underwood’s primary sponsorship of 8 Anti-Conservative Bills, to which 7 became law, with his 37% grade…. it was no contest.
Article 5, Section 1 of the State Constitution grants citizens the power to propose legislative measures, laws and amendments to the Constitution to be put on the ballot for voters to decide.
Partnering with the Senate Top Cottonmouth Kim Hammer, Underwood was the House primary sponsor of Acts 218, 240, 273, 274, 241 and 602 which have made citizen-led initiatives to create law or amend the State Constitution next to impossible.
He was also co-sponsor of Act 28 which took money out of Arkansans’ pockets and put it in the pockets of out-of-State big insurance companies.
In short, Underwood crushed Arkansans’ freedoms in Article 5 Section 1 of the Constitution, added massive power over people to the Secretary of State’s Office and chose Special Interest Lobbyists over citizens….What tha Hell is Conservative about that ?
With all that, it dumbfounds me that two so-called Conservative organizations would heap praise and thanks for a couple of Acts Underwood sponsored that threw a few crumbs to us peasants.
Act 994 somewhat increases transparency in Campaign Contribution and Expenditure Reports. While it’s a nice little law, it certainly doesn’t call for applause by men and kisses being blown by women….I feel sure that last sentence will piss some people off….A nice little bonus.
Act 1008 repeals that massive 0.125% State Grocery tax which amounts to roughly 1/10th of a penny on the dollar.
So now for every $10.00 you spend on groceries you will save a Whooping one and a ¼ penny.
Well Damn !….Let’s roll out the red carpet and throw rose pedals at his feet !
Did those crumbs fill you up ?
Neither of these organizations have called Underwood out for his anti-conservatism….That speaks volumes about them.
At Arkansas 1st News we don’t kiss up and play footsy with elected officials.
If they do something Good, we say it….If they do something Bad, we say it.
If they are good solid conservatives, we praise them….If they are anti-conservatives, then we call them out.
We are not here for them….We are here for the People.
#FactsNotFiction

Professional Bully Fighter I investigate and report on issues around the State of Arkansas with an emphasis on Government. I am strong conservative however I bring Truth and Facts regardless of Party affiliation….My hashtag is #FactsNotFiction
The new laws that were passed making criminals out of citizens carrying petitions was by far the worst part of the last session. I am very much opposed to any pro-abortion legislation. But killing democracy under the ruse of protecting the state from abortion is either ignorant or it was cooked up to provide cover for more nefarious reasons. I believe the latter. We must have a reconning on this.
I am so happy to have found Arkansas 1st to see the real Arkansas news. Like Jack Soltallaro, I no longer consider myself a republican (gop), and am now inactive in the Lee County chapter. I cannot continue to support people who are frauds, which is exactly what the majority of our rpa legislature is, not to mention our governor, also not as she would like you to see her.
We need to work to get these people primaried, not an easy job. IMO, our rep. McElroy is a good representative, but our senator is an obvious thief, and more, Reginald Murdock, yet keeps getting re-elected! I don’t know the solution, but ‘we’ need to do something as looks like a major problem in our state.
