Baby Olivia Act Betrayal….Is It Because I Refused To Play Senators Davis & English’s Game ???

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone in government is drawn to my clear charisma and charm. As shocking as that is, there are those who Really don’t like me.

Unbelievable right ?….Let that sink in and we’ll come back to it.

If you didn’t know by now, I am a huge supporter of House Bill 1180, the “Baby Olivia Act”, as are all real Conservative Republicans Statewide.

While it has many co-sponsors in the House and Senate, its lead sponsor is Representative Mary Bentley. In the 2023 legislative session, I was a harsh critic of her for a Bill she was running….I tell you that now for a point to make later.

The Baby Olivia Act sailed through the House Education Committee and the House floor and was widely expected to do the same in the Senate Education Committee and on the Senate Floor….Then Betrayal to every Conservative in the State struck.

Before I go any further, let me make the statement that Swamp Cottonmouths are slimy, nasty, belligerent creatures….Trust me…. that statement is applicable to this story.

In the Senate Education Committee on February 10^th Russellville’s Senator Breanne Davis and North Little Rock’s Senator and Committee Chair Jane English both sank their Cottonmouth fangs right into Bentley’s and Conservatives’ backs by voting not to pass the Baby Olivia Act.

That night I took issue with both Davis and English in a post and followed that with an article the next day.

Bentley regrouped and made a couple of amendments to the Bill and returned to the Committee this morning to run it again….and she really brought her A-game.

While I criticized her in 2023, I have to say her presentation from open to close was flawless, which included expert testimony from the State Surgeon General Kay Chandler, who by the way is an OB-GYN, along with other experts including one from education.

Although I am not an expert in anything, I also testified today as I did in the first Committee meeting as well in favor of the Bill….That statement is about to come into play.

Now since the first Committee meeting, Davis has made clear she was coiled and ready to strike again.

On the other hand, sources close to English said that as of yesterday, with the amendment and new information from experts, she was going to keep her fangs in and vote for the Baby Olivia Act….Then her betrayal fangs struck again….You can’t trust a Cottonmouth.

When the vote was taken, Davis and her fellow Democrats….yeah I said it….Senators Flowers and Murdock voted No, while Senators King, Dotson, Sullivan and Bryant voted Yes.

It takes 5 votes to pass in the Committee so when the Committee analyst gave Chairwoman English the vote tally of 4 to 3, he asked her if she wanted to vote to which she immediately said….“No”….meaning the Bill failed.

The entire room, filled with conservatives who came to the Capitol to support the Baby Olivia Act, went numb and silent….Just as they did during the last Betrayal.

So, what happened ?….Why did English sink her fangs in the backs of conservatives again ?

That’s where I come into play….Yep me….Jimmie Cavin.

During the first Committee meeting on the Bill, I testified and during the testimony I could see Davis’s eyes beginning to glare.

When I was done, I no more had sat down before she went on an angry red-faced rant clearly directed at me….Not a problem….I got thick skin and Cottonmouths don’t scare me.

However, after that meeting ended, it was within an hour several people came to me saying they overheard Davis going at Bentley about me testifying stating I make her “Nervous”….Truth and Facts usually do that to Cottonmouths.

Now ever since the Post that night and the article the next day, several shall we say “Players” at the Capitol, have come to me stating that Davis and English were furious with me, along with others asking me for that reason to not testify again for the Baby Olivia Act.

In Fact 15 minutes before today’s meeting, I was approached and practically begged not testify because of fear Davis and English would vote no if I did.

Well, I don’t play games with Cottonmouths, and I exercised my rights as a citizen and testified proudly in favor of the Baby Olivia Act. In fact, after the meeting, Bentley told me my testimony was great and thanked me for it. I in turn told her that I applauded her Bill and the efforts she has made to get it passed.

I finished that testimony by saying –

“If any State Representative or State Senator bases their vote on a Bill based off whether they like someone testifying or don’t like someone testifying, then that State Representative or State Senator should immediately resign and go home.”

You know what happened next.

So did English not vote because I dared to testify again ?….Well all accounts say she was a Yes before the meeting.

Now if that is truly the case, should anyone be shocked ?….I mean it’s a well-known fact Cottonmouths don’t have a conscience….And that Swamp we call the State Capitol is full of Cottonmouths.
