Arkansas House Speaker Brian Evans was celebrated by local citizens and politicians on May 6th at an event hosted by the Cabot Area Chamber of Commerce. Representative Brian Evans lives in Cabot with his wife, Missy, and two children. Brian spent 10 years on the Cabot School District School Board of Directors before being elected as District 68 representative in 2019.

The event was held at C&C by the Lake in Cabot and sponsored by Baldwin & Shell Construction Company. The attendees were urged to network and enjoy the evening with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres. Multiple friends and colleagues spoke about their friend with words of praise and respect, with Tony Thurman of Cabot School District acting as the MC. Governor Sanders was absent but sent him a letter of congratulations which was full of kind words and witty comments.

Representative Evans was praised as a man of integrity and conviction and someone who is always available to answer questions or help someone in need. Speaker Evans spoke of how he always tries to do what is best for his district and makes sure all his constituents know that he represents every citizen, not just Republicans.  As someone who has followed Speaker Evans and asked for his help clarifying or supporting bills that support education and parental involvement, I can honestly say that everything that his friends said of him last night is true. Cabot is truly blessed to have a representative that does so much for his local Community and the state of Arkansas.

The 95th General Session has convened sine die but can be reconvened for Special Session by the Governor. May elections for school boards are happening now until May 13th for district school board positions. Many are at-large positions so all registered voters of that district can vote.
