Top Three Disappointments In The Swamp.

This is the week of Spring Break for the State Legislative Session, which is a good time for me to reflect on who are the biggest disappointments to Conservatism so far this session.

Not the ones like Senator Kim Hammer or Representative David Ray, who in reality never were Conservative, but the ones who were widely believed to be Conservative….The ones who were counted on to hold the line.

Sadly, there are many who have disappointed but here are my Top Three.

#3 Jerry Cox

Cox is the founder and president of Family Council which promotes itself as a Conservative Pro-Family organization….Basically he is a paid Lobbyist and a good one at that.

He is so good that he used his influence and resources at Family Council to be highly instrumental in getting a series of Bills passed that stomp on citizens’ Rights in the State Constitution to amend it….Does that sound Conservative ?

He did so under the flawed thinking that they would stop out-of-state big money from attempting to buy amendments….In reality, it won’t slow them down a bit.

All Cox accomplished is to have crushed any chance of an in-State citizen grassroots effort to change “THEIR” Constitution….What Cox did was cut his own nose off to spite his face and in the process cut mine and yours off as well.

#2 Senator Alan Clark

In the past Clark has been a strong proponent of Transparency in Government. In Fact, in the 2023 Session, he ran three Pro-FOIA Bills.

One of those, Senate Bill 382, attempted to put into law that secret meetings of School Boards, City Councils and such would indeed be Illegal, stating at the time that he represented the People who wanted Open Meetings.

This session he has done an about face abandoning Conservatives by currently running legislation, Senate Bill 376, that will actually legalize secret meetings of ALL Boards, Councils, Committees and Commissions Statewide.

Clark also has supported and voted for those Bills that crush citizens’ rights to amend the State Constitution.

Most disappointing about Clark is that he has always portrayed himself as an emotional passionate supporter of the People….Yet this session he has employed dishonest dirty swamp political tactics to put Government above the People.

#1 Representative Wayne Long

By far the most disappointing, Long ran on an unrelenting passion for Conservatism and Liberty.

He was widely considered to be the most unwavering Conservative member of the House, often drawing comparisons between himself and Senator Bryan King.

King has never succumbed to the calls of the cottonmouths in the swamp and Long was thought to be in that same camp….Until this session.

In a shocking manner, Long has publicly supported and voted for every Bill that has devastated citizens’ rights to amend, once again, “THEIR” State Constitution.

The very guy who campaigned on a devotion to protect your Liberties has, by his actions, worked to rob you of them. His passion has been replaced by a stoic submission to the Swamp Party, jumping feet first into the pockets of Hammer and Ray.

Those are my top three disappointments so far this session and for those of you that think I’m being too harsh, well if you’re waiting for me to sing Kumbaya with cottonmouths….It ain’t gonna happen.

I’m a Lion….Not a Sheep.
