The United States House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, prohibiting individuals who are born male from participating in women’s and girls’ sports. The bill passed 218-206 with bipartisan support from two Democrats. This bill amends Title IX to define sex as based on reproductive biology at birth.
Introduced by Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.), the legislation reflects Republican efforts to restrict transgender athletes in women’s sports, a key issue in their 2024 platform. Public opinion aligns significantly, with a University of Chicago NORC poll showing nearly 70% of Americans favor limiting transgender participation in women’s sports.
The bill first passed the House in 2023 but stalled in a Democrat-controlled Senate. Now, with Republican majorities in Congress, it advances as part of broader efforts to fulfill campaign promises. It now heads to the Senate.
Rep. Steube said, “Americans have loudly spoken that they do not want men stealing sports records from women, entering their daughters’ locker rooms, replacing female athletes on teams, and taking their daughters’ scholarship opportunities. Republicans have promised to protect women’s sports, and under President Trump’s leadership, we will fulfill this promise.”

When a worldview does not begin with God, identity is often shaped by personal feelings. This relativistic approach provides a fragile foundation for any belief system. In a society lacking moral absolutes, the most dominant and assertive cultural voices tend to prevail. A world without God at its center, and a culture without the guiding authority of a loving Creator, contributes to the challenges we now see unfolding in sports.
We at Arkansas 1st believe that God creates human beings in His image as male and female. We see in Scripture that He acknowledges and affirms the differences between them. Biological sex is a gift from God and not subject to alteration. The differences between male and female should be celebrated and recognized as unique and inimitable.

Just a homeschool mom hoping to make a positive difference in the world.
