Voters, Trump, DOGE Clamor for Change

Yesterday’s public outcry from voters, “the DOGE brothers,” and President Donald Trump against the woke, bloated, Christmas tree CR Speaker Mike Johnson was pushing has forced Johnson back to the drawing board to cobble something together Congress can put in place before the December 20 government shutdown deadline.

Why has Congress waited till this week to do something about this appropriation deadline? Johnson promised just last September:

“So there won’t be a Christmas omnibus …We don’t want any busses. We’re not going to do any busses, okay?”

Trumps Wants Debt Hike in Omnibus

Trump has doubled down in the face of such obstinacy from Congress. In addition to making it clear he wants aid for farmers and disaster victims he now is also asking for a hike in the debt ceiling, prompting this from Arkansas Congressman Steve Womack:

When I woke up this morning that was not on my mind, okay? But it’s on my mind tonight because Mr. Trump has indicated that’s important for him. Whether or not that’s doable or not, ultimately … that’s a whip team operation to figure out.

Washington’s propaganda outlet, Politico, says there’s no great appetite in DC among ruling Republicans for a stripped-down CR, as voters, DOGE, and President Trump are demanding. And, DC is fuming that the now-dead CR had broad bipartisan support. Are the naysayers right? Will Trump’s historic re-election also reveal the true intentions of all the purple Republicans we keep voting into power?

Last evening, Trump posted on Truth Social:

Any Republican that would be so stupid as to do this should, and will, be Primaried, Everything should be done, and fully negotiated, prior to my taking office on January 20th, 2025.

We’ll see what the end of the week brings for funding our government going forward. Regardless, it’s obvious that Trump’s America First agenda has truly taken hold, even before Inauguration Day. Our greatest days are ahead!
