Today was a historic moment as Arkansas’s six Presidential Electors convened in the Old Supreme Court Room at the Arkansas State Capitol to cast their votes for the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.
Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution directs each state to appoint Presidential Electors equal to the state’s congressional delegation. These electors serve one essential purpose: to formally vote for the President and Vice President. In Arkansas, electors are chosen at the party’s state convention and then meet in December to fulfill their constitutional duty—a process known as the Electoral College.
It was a profound honor to stand as one of the six presidential electors unanimously chosen at the Republican Party of Arkansas State Convention in June 2024. Despite challenges this summer—including the improper signing of the elector certificate by the RPA Chairman and RPA Treasurer, as well as their refusal to work with the convention chairman to correct their mistake—the proceedings today unfolded with dignity, as they should.
The ceremony was held in the magnificent Old Supreme Court Room, a space whose grandeur never fails to inspire. Its soaring ceilings and intricate crown molding provide a fitting backdrop for such a momentous occasion. Yet, the most beautiful sight of the day wasn’t the room itself—it was seeing the beaming faces of my husband and daughters in the audience.
Adding to the honor, Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Barbara Webb—my friend and former boss—administered the oath of office before we cast our official votes for President Donald J. Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.
For me, this day represented the culmination of years of dedication. As someone who has proudly voted for President Trump three times, displayed a 6-foot Trump sign outside our business during the election season, worked on his legal team during the 2020 election, fought tirelessly to secure his electors in 2024, and served as an out-of-state poll watcher during this pivotal election, the opportunity to cast my vote as a Presidential Elector was truly a full-circle moment. Like many Americans, I look forward to the peace, security, and prosperity that will result from having President Trump back in the White House.
While my daughters may still be too young to understand the magnitude of today’s events, I hope and pray that one day they will look back with pride, knowing their mother stood firm for freedom, for America and for the principles that make our country great. It is my deepest honor to have been one of six Arkansans entrusted with this sacred responsibility and to cast my vote for one of our nation’s greatest leaders in American history—President Donald J. Trump.
