Last week my family went to Blue Hole Market & Café in Bauxite to see if it’s really a great after-school spot for kids. Spoiler: I had a lot of fun.
When you walk in, you can smell warm food and fresh coffee. There are games, couches, and bright colors everywhere. We found a comfy couch, pulled out Uno, and started playing while we waited. (There’s even a drive-through for quick pick-ups.)
Our order was a mix of snacks and treats: chicken tacos, cheese sticks, a dip tray, and ice cream. The tacos had good flavor but were a little spicy, so I wouldn’t pick them for younger kids. The dip tray was my mom’s favorite—spinach-artichoke dip, hummus, and chicken salad with crunchy veggies for dipping. It looked colorful and tasted fresh.
The cheese sticks were perfect for kids: super melty inside with crispy outsides, plus warm marinara. For dessert we got Loblolly ice cream (creamy and delicious, as always).
After we ate, we looked around the market shelves. They sell coffee, organic sourdough breads, handmade soaps, and other local items. You could spend 15–20 minutes just browsing and still not see it all.
Best bite: the cheese sticks—stretchy cheese + tangy sauce = happiness.
Value: portions felt generous, and prices were reasonable when we visited.
Verdict: Blue Hole really is a good after-school hangout. The seating is comfortable, the food tastes great, and there’s plenty to do while you wait. I give it 5 stars for kid-friendly fun.
