Queen Sanders – An Opinion Piece From Guest Contributor Joey McCutchen

Joey McCutchen is a well-known accomplished attorney in Fort Smith.

Along with being a Conservative, Joey is a passionate, hands-on advocate for Citizens Freedoms, Rights and Government Transparency.

The following are his thoughts on Governor Sanders.

Whether you are a Democrat or a Republican, a liberal or conservative, in my opinion, we must, as Patrick Henry says, “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty.”

Our Governor is clearly trampling on the “public liberty.”

Unfortunately, we have a Governor, who believes she is completely unaccountable to the people- and for that matter the local and state media. Has she held an unscripted press conference or granted any interviews?

First, she purchases a $19,000 or so podium and has her staff create condescending video mocking the citizens who feel that $19,000 of taxpayer money for a personalized podium is an irresponsible use of taxpayer money. On top of that, she and her staff violated FOIA.

Then, the Governor brought a bill to teach us a lesson in a costly special session which would have gutted our Freedom of Information Act, under the thinly veiled excuse of her “security.” The people stood up and loudly proclaimed, “Regnat Populus, Sarah.” We beat it back.

Now, she is attempting to secretly ram down the throats of the people, our Senators and State Representatives ( and the Board of Corrections) of the River Valley a 3,000 bed pet prison project “spending orgy” without a clue as to the cost or the effect on the local workforce or if the roads, water , sewage or other infrastructure will support her “political ambition aka pet prison.”

Did I mention her continuing war with the Board of Corrections whom she is leading around like a “whipped puppy” in violation of Amendment 33 of our Arkansas Constitution? The Board was recently granted a preliminary injunction which the Governor continues to violate.

Will there be a constitutional crisis in Arkansas this session or will the ledge bow down to a Governor…acting like a Queen?

We, the people, decide … or do we?
