Burning Coach Lindsey At The Stake Part II – Would Conway Interim Superintendent Jason Black fire Maya Angelou as well ?
Hypocrisy and the records to prove it.

As promised the follow up to my article last Sunday, link below, about Coach Ben Lindsey being fired.
Angelou was one of the world’s most renowned poets and writers….and she was Black.
So would Conway School Interim Superintendent Jason Black fire….Tell ya what….Let’s come back to that later.
Let’s start with a couple of other questions first.
Like, what’s the difference in stating a word verbally….or stating it in writing ?
And what’s the difference between hearing a word said….or reading a word being said.
Both are easy answers….Nothing.
You all know by now Jason and School Board members Barrett Perry, Leona Walton, Trip Leach, Shelia Franklin and Leo Cummings, wrongfully fired Basketball coach Ben Lindsey for verbally telling his players to stop calling people “Niggas”.
Well, that makes each of them Hypocrites….and I have the facts to back that up.
Jason and those five Board members contend that the word “Nigger” or any variation of it should never be used at the District in any context.
However, Deputy Superintendent Karen Lasker sees it differently. Testimony quoted her telling Lindsey “That word should never come out of a white man’s mouth.”….Apparently with Lasker if you are Black, Asian or Hispanic you’re good to go.
Now the District investigation into Lindsey’s use of the word was led by Administrators Andy Ashley, Preston Echols, Kate Worley and Greg Hughes.
Their investigation report contains summaries in which they state and use, not the “N-word”, but the word “Nigga”…..Four times.
In his statement to the investigation team, Assistant Athletic Director Marcelle Goins didn’t state the “N-word”….he stated “Nigga”.
In statements taken from five players on the team, three of them stated “Nigga” once while two of them stated “Nigga” three times.
In all the Investigation Report created by Andy Ashley, Preston Echols, Kate Worley and Greg Hughes used and stated the word “Nigga”….are you ready….twenty-three times.
Now are Ashley, Echols, Worley, Hughes and Goins going to be fired ?
Are the students going to be expelled ?
What the Hell do you think ?
Now if your argument is that they were just repeating what Coach Lindsey said well guess what….When Coach Lindsey used the word he was just repeating what the players said as well….period.
Besides….No matter the context right ?
Want more Hypocrisy ?….Well I got it.
Records from the District show that the following books are housed for student use in the District’s libraries….Every one of them contain the word “Nigger”.
Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” contains more than 200 uses of the word “Nigger”.
Ralph Ellison’s “The Invisible Man” contains more than 100 uses of the word “Nigger”.
Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” uses the word “Nigger” more than 40 times.
Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” uses the word “Nigger” 4 times.
F Scott Fitzgerald‘s “The Great Gatsby” uses the word “Nigger” as well.
Last, but certainly not least, is Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” which is her autobiography that tells of her life up to the age of 17 and brought her international recognition and acclaim. It uses the word “Nigger” throughout it.
So why does the School Board allow these books to be used and read by students ???…..I thought that word wasn’t allowed in the District no matter the context ?
Not only can you see the Hypocrisy, you can smell it….It’s the same smell you get standing next to a hog pen.
If Angelou was alive today teaching at the District and she told a group of students to stop using the word “Nigga”….Do you think Jason Black, Barrett Perry, Leona Walton, Trip Leach, Shelia Franklin and Leo Cummings would fire her for that ?
Of Course, not….But then again Angelou was not a White basketball coach.
By all accounts, Coach Lindsey is a fine man who has put taking good young men and pushing them to become great men ahead of basketball. That’s what he was doing when he told his players to stop using the word “Nigga”….and they fired him for it.
They are willing to destroy a good man’s career and rob future students from his excellent mentorship all for the sake of political correctness.
Now they could reverse course today and right their wrong by calling a Special Meeting and voting to rescind their vote for termination and reinstate Coach Lindsey.
That would be the right and decent thing to do….I wouldn’t hold your breath though….Right and decency have been missing from the start of this issue.
Let me finish by saying that since this whole thing started, I have not been able to keep from wondering if Jason Black recommended termination to the Board in order to buy the 4 votes, he needs from them to take the “Interim” tag off and name him Superintendent.

I believe that no matter how the school board and the interim superintendent vote at the next or subsequent meetings, the Conway school system is proving it’s just as corrupt and mis-lead as it seems. A superintendent who doesn’t fire people who stole huge sums of money, a school board that will not engage state government for a (needed) audit, and now firing a coach for working to make his players better people. Typical. All they need is a picture of Mamdani and the hammer and sickle. The City of Conway and much of Faulkner County has gone to hell in the last 50 years.
