That’s exactly what a crypto mining company by the name Newrays One LLC has done to Faulkner County Sheriff Tim Ryals and 20th Judicial Prosecutor Carol Crews.
In the 2023 State Legislative Session our lawmakers, instead of listening to the people, listened instead to lobbyists and passed a Bill, which Governor Sanders signed into law that April, paving the way for crypto mining facilities to set up shop in Counties without regulation.
These facilities are known for using massive amounts of electricity and water along with emitting a torturing noise 24 hours a day 7 days per week.
Newrays One LLC began operating a crypto mining facility in the community of Bono in Faulker County in May of 2023.
The Faulkner County Quorum Court worked quickly to get a noise Ordinance in place to protect the citizens in Bono, especially Gladys Anderson who lives next door to the Newrays Facility.
The County attorney, Phil Murphy and County Judge Allen Dodson together drafted the language in Ordinance 23-20 and it passed on July 19th 2023.
Newrays ignored the Ordinance and began operating with a torturing noise emission. When you stand in Ms. Anderson’s front yard it sounds as if you are holding a blow dryer in your hand.
On May 13th 2024 I accompanied Ms. Anderson to the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office where she filed an Incident Report for Newrays violating the Ordinance. (click the link for my post on it)

Chief Deputy Chad Wooley investigated the matter and presented his findings to Crew’s office who assigned the case to her Deputy Prosecutor Jacob Webb, (4th pic). Criminal Charges were then filed in Conway District Judge Chris Carnahan’s Court and after some legal back and forth, plea and arraignment is scheduled for November 4th at 8:30am.
Newrays One was not happy at all about being charged and on September 26th filed a lawsuit along with a motion for Injunction in the Federal Eastern District Court which was assigned to Judge Lee Rudofsky.
The lawsuit named Ryals and Crews along with County Judge Allen Dodson and County Attorney Phil Murphy as Defendants. The lawsuit and injunction’s purpose are to stop the County from enforcing the Ordinance and includes some pretty bizarre claims.
A Hearing for the Injunction was held on October 4th and in full disclosure, I was subpoenaed by Newrays One to testify. Why I don’t know because it only hurt their case.
On October 6th Judge Rudofsky issued an Order denying their request for an Injunction. In that Order, which I have attached, Judge Rudofsky systematically destroyed the basis for each of Newrays’ claims.
While it is nineteen pages long, I promise you it is entertaining reading. I have found his rulings to be rooted in common sense, well thought out and easy to read.

While it does not dismiss the lawsuit, from Judge Rudofsky’s Order to deny the Injunction, it does not look good at all for Newrays One’s lawsuit.
Next step is the Plea and Arraignment in Judge Carnahan’s Court who does not care for legal musical chairs one bit….I have a feeling it’s about to get real for Newrays One.
So far Sheriff Ryals and Chief Wooley have done their job. Prosecutor Crews and Deputy Prosecutor Webb have done their job….Now it’s up to the Courts to provide not only justice for Ms. Anderson and the people of Bono but some much-needed peace and quiet as well.
