Termination Of Coach Curry – Just How Black & White Is It ?

This is the 4^th in a series of articles I have written concerning the termination of Felix Curry as the Head Football Coach at Fort Smith High School. The first three are linked in order.

According to the District, no records of the directive to remove Curry as head coach and reassign him exist….In other words, nothing in writing….That fact in itself is disturbing.

However, records do show that Superintendent Terry Morawski and Assistant Superintendent Chris Davis both gave the directive to Northside High School Principal Chris Carter to take the action….An action that, I illustrate in the second article, violates State Law.

The unanswered question from the beginning of this unlawful action is why ?….Why did Morawski and Davis terminate Coach Curry ?

According to his attorney, Joey McCutchen, to date his client has been given nothing in writing or verbally as to why…. Another disturbing fact.

In the first article, I raised the question of a Double Standard in this issue pertaining to Fort Smith Southside High School Head Football Coach Kim Dameron.

In the second article, I promised to do an apples-to-apples comparison….Here it is.

On your left, Coach Curry….On your right, Coach Dameron.

Violating terms of their contract.

Violating District Policies.

Having complaints filed against them.

Having grievances filed against them.

Having been suspended.

According to McCutchen, Curry has had no disciplinary issues and all good evaluations. I do not have access to that information for Coach Dameron, but for this article I’m going to make the assumption that he has the same.

In Curry’s three seasons at Northside, he has gone 4-7, 2-9 and 2-9 with an overall record of 8-25 which gives him a 24% winning percentage.

Dameron has had five seasons at Southside. In his first three he went 2-9, 2-9 and 4-7 with an overall record of 8-25 which gave him a 24% winning percentage….The same as Curry.

In Dameron’s last two seasons he has gone 7-5 and 4-6 for a five-season overall record of 19-36 which gives him an overall 34.5% winning percentage.

According to McCutchen, after this year’s Northside loss to Greenwood by a score of 58-0, Athletic Director Michael Beaumont called Curry with concerns on his team’s play in the game….Okay….Seems fair for Beaumont to make that call.

However, Dameron’s Southside team played Greenwood as well this season losing 70-28 with a halftime score of 70-0….I wish I could tell you if Dameron had a similar call from Beaumont after the loss, but I do not have that information.

Okay….I have given you a factual fair comparison of the two and as you can see on paper, these two Coaches….mirror….each other. Yet Curry has been terminated as a Head Coach and Dameron has not.

So, where off paper do I see the difference ???

Well to me it’s pretty much….Black and White….What do you see ?
