Recently Conway Preston Florence Mattison Elementary School fourth grade teacher Barbara Tucker was terminated by the School District after a parent complained of inappropriate physical contact with her son.
The attached video is what the District provided to support their conclusion of inappropriate physical contact. The interaction begins at the 45 second mark.
On August 22nd, Tucker encountered a 2nd grade student unattended and out of place in a hallway near the 4th grade bathrooms.
Now according to the District, this student has strong behavioral issues and is known as an “eloper”, meaning a student who will run away or escape…. so much so that he has had a Registered Behavior Technician assigned to him who is supposed to be with him at all times.
According to Tucker, she was aware of that fact and approached the student because she thought he was running away. She asked him where he was going and the student kept trying to get around her and as she tried to redirect him, the student shoved her arm away, then maneuvered around her into the 4th grade boys bathroom.
Tucker followed him into the bathroom and told him his behavior was inappropriate and when they exited, the student ran to his teacher and told her Tucker hit him.
According to records, the student was then allowed to call his mother and told her while in the bathroom Tucker pushed him against the wall causing him to hit his head against it.
Is there video or evidence of that ?…..None at all.
The parent did not just complain to the school–she also filed a report with the Conway PD which led to Tucker being interviewed by a Detective.
Now the reason this got on my radar is because I started researching it to show a double standard in how another incident at the District was handled; however, the more I looked at it, the more I started scratching my head for several reasons.
So now I’m going to do a deep dive into the termination and how it was handled along with just how this turned into a criminal investigation. As you can tell I have already gathered some records and I’m in the process of gathering more.
There is a lot to this story and when I’m done investigating, I will bring you all the records and facts.
I can tell you from what I have seen so far, my biggest question is who is allowed to run the Elementary Schools in Conway ?…..The teachers or the second graders ?
