A group of religious leaders led by Rev. Katey Zeh held a “blessing” ceremony at the Women’s Health Center of Maryland—an abortion clinic operating in a small Appalachian town.

The event, organized by Zeh’s Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, included incense, prayers, poetry, and ritual acts intended to sanctify the facility, which performs abortions nearly every day. Zeh, a Baptist minister and Yale Divinity School graduate, framed the ceremony as a faith-based affirmation of abortion access.

More than 30 participants, including abortion workers and clergy, took part in the event. Supporters claimed it was an effort to counter what they view as religious stigma surrounding abortion.

The Maryland clinic opened shortly after its sister facility in West Virginia ceased performing abortions following the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade.

Zeh has made abortion clinic blessings a hallmark of her activism, with RCRC having conducted at least 10 similar ceremonies across the country—each asserting that abortion is sacred work.

Pro-life leaders were swift to denounce the event. “For decades, the Left has been hostile to religious expression—except when it’s used to sanctify abortion,” said Josh Mercer, vice president of CatholicVote. “It’s deeply troubling to see prayer and ritual hijacked to promote the killing of children.”

Analysis: A Ceremony of Confusion and a Warning from Scripture

The recent “blessing” ceremony at the Women’s Health Center of Maryland, led by Rev. Katey Zeh, is more than just a misguided event—it is a sobering example of what Scripture warns against in Isaiah 5:20:

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness…”

Rev. Zeh, who publicly lists her pronouns and proudly showcases media features in radical outlets such as The Atlantic and The Huffington Post, positions herself as a faith leader. Yet her message and ministry stand in direct contradiction to biblical truth. Rather than calling for repentance or the protection of innocent life, she exalts abortion as sacred—a notion fundamentally at odds with Scripture and the Christian understanding of the sanctity of life.

This is not compassion. This is deception.

The ceremony itself—complete with incense, singing, and ritual—was not a display of biblical faith, but a distortion of it. By cloaking the destruction of human life in religious language, Rev. Zeh and those who participated in the event mislead others and dishonor the God who is the Author of life.

Let us be clear: Rev. Zeh is a false prophet. Her teachings lead not to truth, but to confusion and moral chaos. She is not guiding souls toward righteousness, but offering a counterfeit gospel—one that elevates personal choice over divine command.

As believers, we must reject this false teaching and pray fervently—for our nation, for those deceived by this movement, and even for Rev. Zeh herself. May the Holy Spirit convict and draw her away from error and into the light of truth.

In this cultural moment, Christians cannot afford to be silent. We must speak truth in love, boldly affirm the value of every human life, and defend the faith against those who twist it to serve political agendas.
